Sports for Swaraj

Empowering Rural Youth Through Outdoor Sports

Sports for Swaraj is a youth-centered initiative by the Bharati Approaching Tomorrow Foundation (BATF), inspired by the Gandhian vision of self-reliant and empowered communities. The project aims to promote outdoor sports  such as running, jumping,  cricket Football volleyball  badminton and other activities  across rural schools and Gram Panchayats in Bihar, with equal participation from both boys and girls .

In many parts of rural Bihar, access to structured sports opportunities remains limited. Sports for Swaraj addresses this gap by organizing school-level competitions, physical fitness camps, and sports awareness drives, especially in under-resourced areas. These activities not only encourage physical well-being but also build confidence, discipline, and team spirit  among young participants.

BATF collaborates with local schools, educators, and panchayat leaders to make sports an essential part of rural youth development. Special attention is given to ensuring gender inclusion, community involvement, and long-term sustainability.

Sports for Swaraj is more than just a sports program — it is a movement to unlock rural talent, promote healthy lifestyles, and inspire the next generation of changemakers.

Building Strong Foundations for Rural Children

Nanhe Kadam  is a flagship initiative of the Bharati Approaching Tomorrow Foundation (BATF), dedicated to the holistic development of children in the rural regions of Bihar. Nanhe Kadam blends creative learning, foundational education, health and hygiene awareness, and life skills training to help children thrive. The program places a strong focus on early childhood education and personality development, encouraging curiosity, communication, and self-belief from an early age.

To ensure meaningful impact, BATF works hand-in-hand with parents, local educators, and community leaders. Regular school visits, interactive workshops, and community events strengthen the support ecosystem around each child.

Under this initiative, BATF has established dedicated learning centers in Patna, Begusarai, and Sheikhpura , offering safe, inclusive spaces for children to learn, play, and grow. These centers serve as local hubs of opportunity and inspiration, especially in areas where access to quality education is limited.

Nanhe Kadam believes that investing in a child’s early years is the most powerful step toward building stronger communities and a better tomorrow.
